The checklist conforms with the Communicable Diseases Network Australia’s (CDNA) National Guidelines for the Prevention, Control and Public Health Management of COVID-19 Outbreaks in residential care facilities. Link
The checklist also conforms with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission’s Infection Control Monitoring Checklist (refer below), which is used to carry out COVID-19 spot-checks on Australian aged-care providers. Link
Aged Care Facilities
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission is currently undertaking unannounced monitoring visits with residential aged care services nationally to observe their COVID-19 infection control defences.
Officers conducting the visits use a range of tools including a checklist based on the CDNA guidelines outlined above. The spot checks are intended to ensure everyone is adhering to infection control arrangements including safe PPE protocols.
Other Care Facilities
Our COVID-19 checklist has a strong focus on aged-care but it is suitable for any public or private service where residents are provided with personal care or health care by facility staff. This includes:
- Residential aged care residential physical or mental disability care
- Community based residential health facilities (e.g. drug and alcohol services)
- Long-stay hospital wards and rehabilitation hospitals
- Other similar accommodation settings in Australia.
